We offer therapy grounded on the psychoanalytic method of free association integrated with a variety of traditional therapeutic approaches to mental health treatment.
Most of our therapists offer in-office appointments. We recommend this modality for treatment, but we know that it is not realistic for everyone.
An initial meeting with a therapist, also known as an intake or consultation, is an opportunity for you to discuss your concerns and goals for therapy, and for the therapist to assess whether they are the right fit for you. It’s completely normal to feel nervous or uncertain about this meeting. Overall, an initial consultation with a therapist is an opportunity to get to know each other and see if you’re comfortable working together.
Psychoanalysis was invented for individuals. The method works best for people who are relatively high functioning although it can be modified and adapted for patients with more severe symptoms, traumas, and behavioral challenges. Ideally, patients move toward a psychoanalytic process as mental health concerns are gradually diminished.
Psychoanalysis is not a modality for treating couples; however, psychoanalytic therapists are highly trained listeners who can support couples with overcoming communication barriers and long-term impasses.
We offer supervision and consultation for therapists who aspire to work psychoanalytically with their patients.
Formal psychoanalysis requires three to five days per week and generally costs about $2000 per month. Ask your therapist if this might be an option for you.
Family therapy is a type of psychotherapy that helps family members improve communication, resolve conflicts, and build stronger relationships. Rather than focusing on one individual, it treats the family as an interconnected unit, teaching family members how to support each other through life transitions, trauma, or behavioral challenges.
FEES & INSURANCE
(Depending on the clinician)
We are an out-of-network private practice. We provide superbills for potential reimbursement based on your insurance plan. Please let us know about your insurance coverage and we will provide you with an estimate of what you can expect to pay.
Sexuality is one of the four cornerstones of psychoanalysis. Psychoanalysis approaches the matter of sexuality from the perspective of drive-desire rather than from the perspective of sexual behavior or the mechanics of sex acts.
